Dolly (Fauré)

The continuation Dolly, op.56 is a whole of 6 parts for Piano with four hands, written by Gabriel Fauré between 1894 and 1897.

These short parts were made up in the honor of Helene, called Dolly , the girl of Emma Bardac, professional singer and future wife of Claude Debussy. The Berceuse was written for the first birthday of this one, the others being made up for other birthdays of Dolly or other events family. The subtitles attest the character " intime" work, Ketty being the dog of Bardac, deformed later in " Kitty" in the fourth part and Semi-have-or coming from " Mr Aoul" , in reference to the brother, Raoul, of Helene, such as it called it.

It is about the only work for piano with four hands of the musician.

The creation of work was made by Alfred Cortot and Edouard Risler in 1898.

There exists a symphonic version orchestrated by Henri Rabaud and created in 1906.

Work comprises 6 parts and its execution lasts a little less than fifteen minutes.
