DokuWiki

DokuWiki is a free Moteur of wiki under license GNU LPG in conformity with the standards, simple to use, of which the principal goal is to create documentations of any kind. This software is developed in by Andreas Gohr. It is intended to the development teams, for work of group and the small companies. It has a simple syntax which ensures the legibility of the data files apart from Wiki, and facilitates the creation of structured texts. All the data are stored in textual files, and thus no database is necessary.

History

DokuWiki was creates by Andreas Gohr in June 2004. The first official version left in July on Freshmeat. One of the big steps of the phase of the development was the recasting of the parsers and the part returned in January 2005. This new realization was synonymous with much better performances and thus made DokuWiki usable for the more important projects of documentation. It brought a generic interface for the plugins which simplified the work of development and maintenance of the extensions. These improvements were indeed perceived by the community since DokuWiki is part from now on of the distributions Debian since April 2005 and Gentoo since July 2005. Today, DokuWiki belongs to the most known engines of Wiki.

Principal functionalities

; Management of version: DokuWiki safeguards all the various versions of each page of the wiki, thus making it possible to the users to compare the old versions of each page compared to their last. The tool making it possible to observe the differences between two various versions is the same one as that of MediaWiki. A system of bolt prevents several users from modifying the same page at the same time. ; Access control: 2 ; Plugin S: DokuWiki has an interface of management of the generic plugins which makes it possible to simplify the development and the maintenance of the plugins. Currently, approximately a hundred plugins are available. The latter can be easily integrated into the engine of Wiki by a user having the rights of administrator thanks to the interface of the plugins. ; Template S: The appearance of the wiki can be defined in an owner. There already exists of many owners provided by the community. ; Internationalization: DokuWiki functions in UTF-8 what allows languages such as Mandarin, Thai and Hebrew to be posted correctly. Currently, DokuWiki can be configured in forty different languages. ; Put in memory hiding place: DokuWiki safeguards returned pages thus making it possible to decrease the load of the waiters. ; Research full text: DokuWiki has an integrated indexed research, with which a user can scan for key words on the wiki. ; WYSIWYG: DokuWiki has a bar of tools facilitating the work of the writers. But the integration of the editor xHTML HTTP: /www.fckeditor.net FCKeditor brings many functionalities of edition to the range of a Net surfer lambda.
