Doctrines of the Witnesses of Jéhovah
the dogmas and the beliefs of the Witnesses of Jéhovah are primarily founded on their comprehension of the Bible, considered as the word inspired of God. Their Doctrine S is regularly presented through two magazines published by the Société Watchtower: you Awake! and the Tower of Guard . A great number of their Croyance S are common to the Christian movements fundamentalist S, while some theirs are specific.
This page indexes principal the Dogme S of the Témoins of Jéhovah (the biblical passages quoted below are those which are used by the movement to justify its Doctrines and their interpretation belongs to them; “Revelation” is the book of the more known New Testament under the name of Apocalypse).

Theological doctrines
Name of Witnesses of Jéhovah
This name was adopted in 1931. According to them, this name is the sign which they are qualified as servants of Jéhovah (i.e. God according to the Bible) to which they return testimony for its divinity and her intentions. They “refer to the 43 chapter of Isaïe (...), which the scene of the world is compared with a court where the gods of the nations are invited to produce their witnesses to prove their allegations of justice, or to hear the witnesses in favor of Jéhovah and to recognize the truth”. They think that the verse 10, in which Jéhovah is addressed to its people and who declares: “You are my witnesses, known as Jéhovah, and my servant whom I chose, so that you recognize and that you believe, and that you understand that it is me”, applies to them. They affirm that God always had witnesses on the ground during the millenia since the creation of the man.
Fundamentalism
For the Pilot of Jéhovah, the Bible is the Word inspired of God, useful for any good and completely veracious work (2 Timothée 3:16,17; Jean 17:17). It is God which guided the work of drafting of this book by the means of sound the Holy Spirit by inspiring forty human secretaries. There exist several fundamental reasons for which it is advisable to examine the Bible: she affirms to come from God which is the Creator, she makes it possible to include/understand the direction of the life and the significance of the world conditions, and exposes the solutions to our problems. The evidence of its inspiration would be manifest through the realization of its many detailed prophecies excluding any human origin, its scientific exactitude and its internal harmony. The Témoins of Jéhovah publish and use their translation of the Bible, translated English edition by taking account of the Hebrew and Greek texts, which is carried out by a committee of anonymous translators: Holy Scriptures - Translation of the New World .
The Témoins of Jéhovah are a religious movement fundamentalist and take the Bible “literally” each time the context allows it. They adhere to the whole of the biblical account. The Déluge is for them a fact. They reject the evolutionary theories, the Man and the universe having been created by God (Psalm 100:3; Hebrews 3:4). They believe that the first man, Adam, came to the life fully formed, equipped with a perfect constitution and a health into 4026 before our era. They completely refute the profane chronology before the time of the alliance concluded with Abraham (approximately 2.083 years after the date which they advance for the creation of Adam) , because they affirm in their literature that the method of Datation based on the Radioactivité of the elements rests on “the speculation and the assumption”.
Jéhovah
For the Witnesses, “Jéhovah” is, in its francized form, the name that God itself was given, and who corresponds to יהוה (in Hebrew, the equivalent of letters JHVH or YHWH) in the Bible (Psalms 83:18), and means “It makes become”, showing by there that God of proposes to become all that it will like it to be to carry out his intentions. It is only true God, and for this reason it deserves to be to adore (1 Corinthians 8; 5,6; Revelation 4:11). It is a spirit and nobody it forever considering (Psalms 11:4,5; Jean 1:18). He is the personification of the love (1 Jean 4:8) and proclamation to perfection of other qualities of which justice (Deutéronome 32:4), power (Isaïe 40:26) and wisdom (Job 12:13). It is necessary to like God of all his person (Matthieu 22:37) and to test a salutary fear to displease to him (1 Pierre 2:17). It is possible to know God by means of his creation which testifies to its qualities (Romans 1:20; Psalm 19:1 - 6) and of the Bible where it reveals which it is, which it for making and what he claims of the men (Amos 3:7). The Witnesses estimate that it is necessary to employ the name of God (Malaki 3:16; Romans 10:13), it is even one of the signs of the true worship.
Jesus Christ
The Témoins of Jéhovah consider that Jesus Christ was the first of works of God (Colossiens 1:15), and that it is also called under the name of Michael archangel in the Bible (1 Thessaloniciens 4:16; Revelation 12:7 - 12). He knew a préhumaine existence in the skies before coming on ground, and took part with Jéhovah in creation (Proverbs 8:22 - 31; Colossiens 1:16,17). On ground, it was used as divine spokesperson (Jean 1:1 - 3), made known the truth on God (Jean 18:37), showed the way to be followed for all the Christians (1 Pierre 2:21), and gave his life to release human Péché and Mort (Matthieu 20:28). It was nailed on a Poteau of torment, not on a cross (Matthieu 27:40). It gave its life in ransom for all the human ones having Foi in him (Jean 3:16) and its single sacrifice was enough to repurchase the human ones (1 Corinthians 15:21,22; 1 Timothée 2:5,6). Its miracles showed its pity for the human suffering ones (Matthieu 14:14), its undeniable quality of Sons of God (Marc 2:10 - 12), and was a demonstration of what it will do for the faithful ones at the time of Millénium (Jean 5:28,29). Christ was ressuscity immortal spirit (1 Corinthians 15:44,45; 1 Pierre 3:18). The presence of Christ is invisible and it started in 1914.
Single God
The Témoins of Jéhovah believe in a single God and not in a Trinité (Deut 6:4). According to them, the Bible makes a distinction between God and Jesus, his son: Christ is the Son of God, than which it is lower (Jean 14:28), and constitutes a person different from her Father (Matthieu 26:39; Jean 8:17,18). The word Trinité does not appear in the Bible and this belief has, according to them, of the pagan origins. The titles relative to God which also apply to Jesus Christ (such as “Alpha and Omega”, “Saver” or “God”) do not prove that they are only one and even nobody. The the Holy Spirit is not a person, but the acting force of God (Psalm 104:30).
Rejection of the cross
See also: Cross at the Witnesses of Jéhovah
According to the publications of the religious movement, “a beam of evidence indicates that Jesus died on a drawn up post, and not on a cross, like the tradition wants it”. To defend this Belief, the Witnesses of Jéhovah point out that the Greek word stauros returned by “cross” in the current Bible S indicates primarily a “post” or “pile”, without transverse bar, and that it is only later that it came from there to apply to a cross. They also note that sometimes the Bible indicates the instrument of torture of the Christ under the Greek word xulon which would indicate a “wood cut and ready to be used (...), beam, pile, (...) stick, (...) post on which the criminals were impaled”. In addition, they affirm that the cross finds its origin in the Paganisme.
Rejection of the clergy and the images
The introduction of a Clergy and the use of images in the Culte are rejected (Iconoclasme). The congregation of Christ is built on itself (Acts 4:10,11; 1 Corinthians 3:11; Éphésiens 2:20). One should not use images as objects of Culte (Exodus 20:4,5; Psalm 115:4 - 8; Jean 4:24); the worship of the Virgin Mary and the Saint S is thus rejected. special Clergy and titles is contrary with the Bible (Matthieu 23:8 - 11).
Satan Devil
See also: Satan#Chez Witnesses of Jéhovah
According to this Religion, Satan the Devil was an angel created perfect by Jéhovah, but which rebelled while wishing to be the object of the worship of human (Matthieu 4:8 - 10) and was addressed to Eve by interposed snake, pushing it to sin (Genesis 3:1 - 5; Revelation 12:9). So it raised two questions: it called into question the sovereignty of God as regards dominating over his creation, and claimed that no human would serve accurately God by love (Job 1:8 - 11). It is Satan which currently dominates the world (2 Corinthians 4:4) and he is the chief of the demons. To mislead the human ones, it uses distorts it Religion (Jean 8:44), the Spiritisme (Deutéronome 18:10 - 12; Acts 19:18,19), nationalism, the bad desires (Gallates 6:7,8) and make use of persecution or the opposition (1 Pierre 5:8,9). After Har-Maguédôn, it will be connected by Jesus and will be maintained in the abyss (place of inactivity) for 1.000 years, after which it will be untied for a little time and will try all human the then arrive ones at the perfection, and will be finally destroyed for always with its demons (Revelation 20:1 - 3,7-10).
Kingdom of God
This confession thinks that the Kingdom of God for which Jesus learned how his disciples to request (Matthieu 6:9,10) is composed of Jesus as King (Luc 1:30 - 33) which received this function of Jéhovah in 1914 (Hebrew 10:12,13; Daniel 7:13,14), as well as the 144.000 human ones chosen by the the Holy Spirit and which will be useful as a King S, Juge S and Prêtre S (Luc 22:28 - 30; Revelation 5:9,10; Revelation 14:1 - 3). As of his accession with the throne, Jesus drove out Satan and its demon S of the skies and precipitated them with the accesses of the ground, which generated many misfortunes since this moment (Revelation 12:9,12). This Kingdom will remove all the existing terrestrial governments and will remain for always (Daniel 2:44).
Heart and resurrection
The Témoins of Jéhovah adhere to the doctrines Annihilationisme. Death is due to the sin of Adam (Roman 5:12). The human heart perishes with the body; the movement rejects the concept of the immortality of the heart (Psalm 146:4; Ecclésiaste 9:5; Ézékiel 18:4) and consequently the Worship of deaths. The human ones which died before Har-Maguédôn will ressusciteront, provided that they did not sin against the the Holy Spirit (Hebrew 10:26 - 31). They will undergo a testing period to be able to live on the ground in a company just directed by God or will be destroyed forever, if they do not recognize the Kingdom of this one (Jean 5:28,29). Adamic death (bequeathed by Adam) will disappear thanks to the ransom provided by death from Jesus Christ; she will be thrown in “the second dead”, will be called also “Géhenne” or “lake of fire” in the Bible and indicating the eternal destruction (Romans 6:23; Isaïe 25:8; 1 Corinthians 15:26; Revelation 21:3, 4). The Hell or Hadès (in Greek) or Schéol (in Hebrew) are not a place of torment, but fall to it common to the men (Ecclésiaste 9:10).
Behavioral doctrines
Prayer
The prayers must be regular (1 Thessaloniciens 5:17; Éphésiens 6:18) and addressed only to Jéhovah (Matthieu 4:10; 6:9) via Jesus (Jean 14:6; 1 Jean 2:1,2). They should not be read or learned by heart, but must reflect what one has in the heart (Matthieu 6:7,8). One can address to God quiet prayers, without particular position, provided that those are respectful (1 Samuel 1:12,13). It is necessary to request only for things which are in agreement with the will of God (1 Jean 5:14). The prayers should not be egoistic, but relate to our relations with God initially and the sanctification of his name, and express praises and thanks (1 Chronicles 29:10 - 13). One can request for our material needs (food and clothing), to obtain the forgiveness of our sins and to receive the required assistance in the event of temptation or of problem (Matthieu 6:9 - 13; Psalm 55:22). To be understood by God, it is necessary to be humble (Luc 18:9 - 14), to have the Foi (Jacques 1:6,7) and not to practice the Péché (Proverbs 28:9). It is well also to request before the meals.
Family life
The structure of family is of patriarchal type: the husband, head of the household, must treat and love his wife in the same way that Jesus did it towards his disciples (1 Corinthians 11:3). He is regarded as having the final authority on the important decisions. He should not misuse his authority and maltreat his wife in some way (Colossiens 3:19; 1 Pierre 3:7). On the contrary, it must provide for the material needs, spiritual and emotional for its family. Not to do it for exclusion (1 Timothée 5:8 can be a reason; Deuteronomist 6:4 - 9; Éphésiens 6:4). It should have only one wife (1 Timothée 3:2).
The wife must be submitted to her husband and test a deep respect for him (Éphésiens 5:22,23,33).
The parents have the obligation to teach and correct their children (Proverbs 22:6,15). The parental discipline should not be managed in a hard or cruel way (Colossiens 3:21). The children are charged to obey their parents (Éphésiens 6:1 - 3).
The couples are encouraged to speak with the old buildings if they have problems. They can only in the case of separate ill-treatment or from negligence physics, or if one of both tries to prevent the other of partiquer its Foi. The Divorce is allowed only in the event of Adultère (Matthieu 19:6 - 9).
Sexual morals
See also: Sexuality at the Witnesses of Jéhovah, Homosexuality at the Witnesses of Jéhovah
The Témoins of Jéhovah must respect standards morals stated in the Bible and such as they are included/understood by the Société Watchtower which then made appear its point of view in its publications. Very practical sexual concerned with the pornéia (Greek word employed in the Bible and including the presence of a partner) is prohibited: it includes the fornication (sexual relationships before or apart from the marriage), the Adultère, the Homosexualité, the Inceste, the Zoophilie, and the remarriage after a divorce not moved by a Adultère. In addition, the Masturbation and the sexual practices considered to be improper are prohibited.
Condemned practices
The Witnesses of Jéhovah must hate what God regards as being badly (Psalm 97:10). That includes the sexual practices enumerated above, as well as the Mensonge (Proverbs 6:16 - 19; Colossiens 3:9,10), plays of money (Éphésiens 5:3 - 5), the flight (Éphésiens 4:28), anger and violence (Psalm 11:5), fates magic and the Spiritism (Deutéronome 18:9 - 13), the Drunkenness (Proverbs 23:20,21,29 - 35; 1 Corinthians 5:11 - 13), the introduction of the Blood into its body by oral or intravenous way (Acts 15:19 - 21), the Abortion (Exodus 21:22,23; Psalm 127:3), the sports violent one or at the risks (Deutéronome 22:8; Psalm 11:5), the Nicotinism and the Drug (Roman 6:19; 12:1; 2 Corinthians 7:1), festivals considered to be contrary to the biblical standards. It is the love for God who must justify them to reject these practices (1 Jean 5:3). Any Witness of Jéhovah practitioner these things can be excluded or excommunicated from the movement if it are not repent in front of a college formed of old of the movement (called “religious disciplinary board”).
Superiority of spiritual and anabaptism
The Witnesses of Jéhovah must obey all the human laws, except when they are in conflict with the divine laws (Matthieu 22:21; Acts 5:29).
Being of filiation anabaptist, they practice the Baptême by complete immersion and this one does not have a value if it is practiced on young children; it symbolizes the offering conscious and total of oneself with God and must be done with full knowledge of the facts.
Not to belong to the " monde"
See also: political Neutrality at the Witnesses of Jéhovah
The Témoins of Jéhovah are known for their strict neutrality in connection with the Politique of the nations and their government institutions and soldiers. They announce in the whole world that the Kingdom of God is the only government able to ensure peace, prosperity and happiness. Consequently, they do not want to take party for a human government and remain neutral with regard to the conflicts between the nations and the Military service. It call this position Christian neutrality (Jean 17:14 - 16; 18:36; Acts 5:29).
Organisational doctrines
See also: faithful and advised Slave, Central College
The spiritual authority of the Witnesses of Jéhovah is held by the faithful and warned slave, expression employed by Jesus in Matthieu 24:45, and which according to the religious movement, refers to the remaining part on ground of the group of 144.000 human having the hope to live with the sky. Among the elements composing the faithful and advised eslave, a group of old, called Central College in reference to the group of apostles and the old ones directing the Christian congregation of the first century (Acts 15) directs the whole of the activities to the international level. The WatchTower Company is the legal instrument of the Witnesses of Jéhovah used by the Central College.
Eschatologic doctrines

Hello
Concerning the hello, the Witnesses teach that there is only one road which leads to the eternal life: to learn how to know God and his Son and to exert the Faith in Jesus Christ (Jean 3:16,36; 14:6; 17:3). Only a small herd of 144.000 people will go to the sky with Jesus (Revelation 14:1 - 3,13) and will be born again like spiritual sons from God for the immortal life (1 Horn. 15:54; Jean 3:3 - 8; Romans 2:29; 8:15 - 17). The others Christian will live eternally on ground (Jean 10:16; Psalm 115:16; Isaïe 65:17 - 25). A Witness of Jéhovah cannot take share with the interdenominational movements (Revelation 18:4). He must be held separate world in what he has of bad (1 Jean 2:15 - 17).
Last days
The faithful ones think that since 1914, we live in the last days of this “system of bad things”, that they describe like difficult times, while basing ourselves in particular on verses such as 2 Timothée 3:1 - 3: “In the last days of times critical, difficult to support, will be there (...)”. During this period, characteristic warning notices are supposed to be recognizable by all the human ones as being the proof of the invisible reign of Jesus Christ, as well as her imminent intervention on ground. Among these signs, a succession of supposed catastrophes to devastate the world like never before: wars, seisms, famines, plagues; as well as an intense activity of Preaching (Matthieu 24:14).
Har-Maguédôn
The term “Har-Maguédôn” appears only once in the Bible in Revelation (or Apocalypse) 16:16; it indicates for the Witnesses of Jéhovah the symbolic system place of the decisive battle during which Jéhovah must destroy most of the human society, dominated according to them by Satan, to found a paradise then over the Earth. The belief in the imminence of Har-Maguédôn is a very important dogma at the Witnesses of Jéhovah. They believe that the ground will not be destroyed and that the human ones will not perish all the day of Har-Maguédôn; via Jesus Christ, Jéhovah will punish only those which defy its absolute power. It will eliminate the malicious human society thus, by preserving of its ire all those which, having been informed of the “good news” announced by the Witnesses of Jéhovah, will have clearly positioned for its name, the offering of oneself and the baptism being the only way which they propose to be saved. However, it is God which will decide which must be destroyed. The Société Watchtower describes in many publications, the warlike arsenal whose Jéhovah could lay out at the time of this battle: snows, hail, earthquakes, torrential precipitations, rain of fire, flashes and other plagues, while being pressed on biblical texts taken in the literal sense. It uses also many illustrations which oppose bucolic scenes of terrestrial paradise to terrible scenes of destruction: men and women terrified trying to flee a rain of meteorites, crack opening under the feet of a frightened crowd, flashes avengers of Jéhovah streaking the sky, etc With those which wonder why a God of love would destroy a good part of humanity, certain publications of the Witnesses of Jéhovah answer that in an infested house of cockroaches, a conscientious owner should protect health and the wellbeing from his family by exterminating these undesirable. In the same way, they believe that Jéhovah must eliminate the “undesirable ones”, by regard for those which he regards as right.
Millenarism and paradise
Being millenarists, the Witnesses believe that the Kingdom of Christ will control the ground in justice and peace during 1.000 years (Revelation 20:6). This Kingdom will make reign on the ground of the ideal conditions, supposed to be those of the original paradise.
The Paradis restored on ground after the 1.000 years will be characterized by peace between the human ones like with and between the animals, the end of violence and criminality, the abundance of food, the renovation of the elderly, a housing for all inter alia (Mika 4:3,4; Isaïe 11:6 - 9; 65:21 - 25; Job 33:25; Psalm 46:9). The ground never will be destroyed nor depopulated (Psalms 104:5; Isaïe 45:18). God will destroy this malicious system of things at the time of the battle of Har-Maguédôn (Psalms 37:10, 20; Romans 8:21; Revelation 11:18). Those which support this one, by not giving an officially opinion for the movement of the Témoins of Jéhovah, will perish for always (Psalms 37:1,2,9).
Propagation of the beliefs by the publications
The leading activity of the Société Watchtower is very intense: it publishes books, booklets and leaflets in many languages. Since its creation, it produced more than 11 billion publications.

This Kingdom will gradually make disappear the evil in all its forms (death, the suffering, diseases, etc) and will found the Paradis on Earth. Moreover, this publication encourages its readers to believe in Jesus Christ.
