Doctor Fatalis

Doctor Fatalis ( Doctor Doom ), of his true name Victor Von Fatalis, is one of super-unpleasant and hero of the universe Marvel. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, it appears for the first time in the USA in the comic-book Fantastic Four #5 of July 1962.

History

Youth

Whereas Victor Von Fatalis was only one child, his father, Werner Von Fatalis, healer gipsy and his mother, Cynthia Von Fatalis, witch, were pursued by the local authorities and the leading class of Latvérie, like all the others Gipsies. Ambitious, his/her mother sought a better future for her young person wire. Calling the forces of the reality of Méphisto, it exchanged its heart against mystical capacities to overcome their enemies. But the demon had increased its capacities without him to give control of it, and although it succeeds in killing the soldiers of the baron who tormented the tribe, his capacities caused heavy losses in the innocent children of the village. Whereas it renonçait with its capacities, it was struck by a dying soldier. When she died, its heart was captured by Méphisto, as envisaged in their market.

Years later, the father of Fatalis was mandé near the Baron Draasen, for his talents of healer. Indeed, the woman of the baron was seriously sick and Werner could only delay the inevitable one. Knowing that the baron would have his skin if his wife died, Werner escaped from the camp with his Victor son towards the deep mountains, whereas the winter approached. Whereas the soldiers were with their case, Werner faced rain and snow, protecting the Victor young person in his own clothing so that it can live. They were found by Boris, a member of their tribe, but Werner was dying. He asked his friend Boris to take care of Victor, who was now filled with rage against the company which had killed his/her parents and had tormented the gipsies.

Adolescence

The Victor young person will discover the heritage of his parents: a medicinal herb box and another container of the magic objects. He will learn how to make use of the one and other, so that he will be noticed by an American scientist who will offer a purse to him to study in the United States where he meets Reed Richards, future chief of the Fantastic 4.

Student shining, Victor von Fatalis moreover will try to develop an apparatus to communicate with his mother. Reed Richards with the second reading of its notes announces a problem to him, that whose Latvérien does not hold any account. The machine explodes.

Fatalis, seriously wounded, is driven out university, is persuaded that Richards is responsible for its failure (what explains its permanent opposition to the 4 Fantastic ones). The disfigured face, Fatalis will go to Tibet in a monastery where he is the first foreigner to be penetrated since centuries. It quickly will learn all the knowledge of the monks as regards Eastern sorcery and will take their head. The monks design an armor to him which the young man will not leave any more. It is made pose the mask whereas this one, hardly left fire, is not still red and pronounces these words “ Victor von Fatalis is not any more but one to remember… as well as the beauty of its face. There is nothing any more but Doctor Fatalis ”

King de Latvérie

From return in Latvérie, Dr. Fatalis will reverse reigning tyranny and will proclaim absolute monarch. He will bring peace and prosperity to the inhabitants of the country, in particular thanks to his science in robotics. Hated by the near total of the world, he will be venerated as much than fears by his subjects.

The monarch consequently will try to achieve his three principal goals: to be avenged for Reed Richards, to conquer the world and to save his/her mother of the hell.

Dr. Fatalis will be avenged for Red Richards on several occasions: that it is by décrédibilisant its scientific knowledge, by making it doubt its own capacities and while assembling its close relations against him, or while attacking directly its close relations. However, it will never succeed in dissolving the family incarnated by the 4 Fantastic ones.

Only once, Fatalis will manage to conquer the world by neutralizing all its supermen thanks to the capacity of tender of the Man Crimson. Against any waiting, it will make reign one era of peace and equality between the men, in exchange of a total tender. However, it will end up giving up this capacity by understanding that the battle and the conquest are more pleasant to him than the peace of an uncontested capacity.

Fatalis will release his/her mother of the hells while being combined with Dr. Strange, character however not very inclined to help the beings malfaisants. Thanks to the occult knowledge of Strange and the trick of Fatalis, the two men will manage to take the devil with its own play and to save the mother of Latvérien, before returning healthy and safe on Earth.

Among the most impressive creations of Dr. Fatalis, one finds the system reducing, of the cyborgs such as Darkoth or Dreadknight and the first machine to travel in time.

Fatalis 2099

In a special series: 2099 , one sees reappearing Doctor Fatalis who arrives at that time thanks to a temporal machine and this time will belong to the goods. It will take again the capacity in Latvérie completely devastated by great industrial consortia and will arrive even at becoming president of the United States. One also learns as of the beginning that only its memories are with him, the body is that of another man. One of its goals will be then to know what arrived to him, and which is behind all that.

Anecdotes

Although human and deprived of super-capacities (if his occult knowledge is excluded and arm with its armor), Dr. Fatalis did not hesitate to face more the great powers of the universe. Thus, one saw it stealing his capacity to the Money Surfer, borrowing his capacity from Galactus in person before facing the Almighty Beyonder , to whom it also stole his capacity, or even facing Méphisto, incarnation of the Diable, on his own ground in hell.

He is regarded as one of principal malicious of the Marvel universe.
