Dnipropetrovsk
Dnipropetrovsk , in the past Dniepropetrovsk , (in Ukrainian Дніпропетровсьск , in Russian Днепропетровск Dniepropetrovsk , called formerly Екатеринослав Iekaterinoslav ) is the third town of Ukraine with 1,2 million inhabitants. It is in particular the capital of the Oblast de Dnipropetrovsk. Dnipropetrovsk is a very beautiful city taking into consideration its many green area, its immense park and river Dniepr which crosses the city of north to the south.
On the edges of the Dniepr river, in the south of the country, it is a mining center and of heavy industry very important. For the Soviet period , its industrial activity principal was based on the production of armaments, in particular of missiles (Ioujmach factory). The access of the city was then interdict the abroads.
Since the bursting of the USSR, Dnipropetrovsk knows all the problems involved in pollution and the reconversion.
An underground line with six stations serves it.
