District of Münster

The district of Münster (in German Regierungsbezirk Münster ) is one of the five German districts ( Regierungsbezirke ) of the Land of Rhineland-of-North-Westphalia. Its chief town is Münster.

Geographical location

The district is bordering on the Lower Saxony (in north), of the district of Detmold (in the east), of the districts of Arnsberg and Düsseldorf (in the south), and with the west, of the Netherlands. Before the removal of the districts in Lower Saxony (2004), the district bordering low-Saxon on the district of Münster was the District of Weser-Ems in north.

The district is located at the north of the Rhineland-of-North-Westphalia.

History

The district was created by Prussian decree of April 30th 1815. The administration of the district began on April 22nd 1816.

  2. Coesfeld: 11 communes, including 5 cities
  3. Recklinghausen: 10 communes, including 10 cities
  4. Steinfurt: 24 communes, including 10 cities
  5. Warendorf: 13 communes, including 8
