Dionys Mascolo

Dionys Mascolo (1916 - August 20th 1997) is a author French.

Biography

Reader at Gallimard, it there meets Marguerite Duras, of which he becomes the lover, and binds friendship with Robert Antelme, the husband of the latter. With them it creates the “group of the street Saint-Benoît”. It joined the Résistance in the group ordered by François Mitterrand. In the Release, it takes part in repatriation with Paris of Robert Antelme, failing with Dachau, as tells it Marguerite Duras in its upsetting account of the Pain . He marries Marguerite Duras in 1947. They will have a child, Jean. The couple will separate in 1956.

In 1946, it adheres to the Communist party, with which it breaks fine 1949. Antigaulliste and anticolonialist, it became in 1955 one of the principal organizers of the Comité of the French intellectuals against the continuation of the war in North Africa . In 1960, it writes, with Maurice Blanchot and Jean Schuster, the Déclaration on the right to insubordination in the Guerre of Algeria (known as Manifeste of the 121 ). He dies the August 20th 1997.

Specialist in Nietzsche and Saint-Just, his reflections are directed especially towards the role of the intellectual in the fights Révolution naires ( Communism , 1953, republished with the Farrago editions). In 1999, the editions Benoît Jacob published his Essai Of the love and, in 2004, a selection of texts joined together under the title Entêtements .
