History

The Préfecture Apostolique of Moundou was set up the May 17th 1951 (territory taken with the apostolic prefectures of Extremely-Lamy and Garoua). It was high with the row of diocese the February 19th 1959. Since this last date, the diocese of Moundou lost part of its territory twice: the March 6th 1989 with the erection of the diocese of Doba, and the November 28th 1998 with the erection of the dioceses of Lay Goré and .
