Diadoque
Diadoque (in Greek old διάδοχος / diádokhos ) wants to say “successor”. The word comes from διά / diá (“by”) and δέχομαι / dékhomai (“to receive”), i.e. literally, “that by which the sceptre is transmitted”.
It is the name given to the generals successors of Alexandre Large the, who shared his empire with his death in 323 av. J. - C.:
- Antigone One-eyed the;
- Antipater ;
- Asandros ;
- Cassandre of Macedonia;
- Eumène de Cardia;

With the contemporary time, of 1832 with 1973, the term of “diadoque” also designated the heir to the throne of Greece.
