Department of Chontales
The department of Chontales (in Spanish: be Departamento de Chontales ) is one of the 15 departments Nicaragua. It is wide on: 6378 km ² and have a population of: 182000 hab. (estimate 2005). Its capital is Juigalpa.
Geography
The department has a broad frontage, in south-west and the west, on the Lac Nicaragua.It is moreover bordering:
- in the North-West and north, of the department of Boaco;
- in north and the east, of the autonomous region of the Atlántico On;
- in the south, of the department of Río San Juan.
