Depa Billaba
Depa Billaba is a character of the universe of the Star Wars , member of the Conseil Jedi at the time of the blockade of Naboo. It is incarnated by Dipika O' Neill Joti in Star Wars: episode I - The phantom Threat ( Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Threatens ) and in Star Wars: episode II - The Attack of the clones ( Star Wars: Episode II - Attack off the Clones ).
Born on Chalacta, it has only six months when it is drawn from the claws of a band of pirates of space by the Jedi Mace Windu. This one immediately detects in it a particular connection with the Force and takes along it on Coruscant where it is not long in becoming its Padawan. It then treats it like his own daughter and teaches the Vaapad to him, a technique of combat to the Saber-laser which it even developed to him.
In the honor of his/her parents, who did not survive the attack of the pirates, Depa Billaba attaches an importance very particular to the culture chalactéenne and carries on the face the Mark of the Illumination which was given to him at the time of its accession to the row of Jedi Knight.
Become Billaba Master, the young woman is before all contemplative but she does not refuse any mission of ground. Little time before the battle of Naboo, it is thus sent on the planet Asmeru in order to inquire into the attempted murder whose Supreme Chancellor Valorum has just been victim on behalf of the Front Nebula. She also carries help shortly after in Mace Windu when this one is threatened by traffickers of dangerous animals on Nar Shaddaa, one of the moons controlled by the Hutt S.
Qualities of pedagog of Depa Billaba finally lead it to be implied in the training of young people Jedi on Coruscant.
Little time after the battle of Geonosis (in which it does not take part directly), the young woman is sent on mission on Haruun Kal in order to convince the Korunnai to support the Old Republic vis-a-vis the Séparatistes of the Confédération of the Independent Systems. The Council however loses its trace before obtaining data elements letting suppose that Depa Billaba rocked on the Obscure Side of the Force. Sent to the help of its old Padawan, Mace Windu discovers Jedi hagarde (it was until tearing off the Mark of the Illumination of its face) become under the influence of the " lor pelek" (or wizard) Kar Wastor one of the instigators of the thankless struggle of the Korunnai against the Balawai, combined to the Separatists.
When he recalls him that it has enfreint its duty of reserve and that it should have informed its pars of the situation before acting in a so violent way, Depa Billaba announces in Maître Windu that it leaves the Jedi Order. But in front of the refusal of this last to see one as of its more brilliant pupils giving up its engagements, this one starts to doubt its own convictions dangerously. Reached by the deflagration of a grenade with protons at the time of new combat, the young woman finally sinks in unconsciousness without to have taken decision and when Mace Windu tries to revive it, it reacts violently by wounding it of a blow of its laser saber.
Jedi survives its wound and even manages to overcome Balawai but meanwhile, the spirit of Depa Billaba (which tried to put an end to its days by understanding that it had failed to kill its benefactor) was gone from there: émotionnellement and mentally destroyed, it is renewed on Coruscant and is looked after by the Jedi healers of the Temple (to be begun with You ruffle Saeb Erakat) while waiting to be able to be judged for its acts. The seat which it leaves vacant with the Jedi Council is consecutively offered to Maître Obi-Wan Kenobi.
If the destiny of Depa Billaba following the Ordre 66 and the Grande Purging Jedi remains unknown, but it is probable that it found death at the time of the attack conducted against the Temple by Dark Vador.
