Denethor II

Denethor II is a character of the Seigneur of the Rings of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Born in year 2930 from the Third Age, it was the twenty-sixth sovereign Surintendant of Gondor, succeeding his/her father Ecthelion II in 2984 T.A. It married Finduilas de Dol Amroth into 2976, which gave him two wire, Boromir and Faramir. Intelligent and able, but to trust and too sure man of him, it dared to look in the Palantír of Minas Tirith, and by doing this, it was handled by Sauron, which showed to him what it was necessary of his armies to make sink the Superintendent in despair, feeling which increased with dead by his/her oldest son. When its junior was seriously wounded at the time of the Guerre of the Ring, Denethor lost the reason and immola with the palantír between the hands.
