History
At the time Gallo-Roman, Delle ( Datira or Dadila ) was located at the intersection of the main road connecting Mandeure (Department of the Doubs) to Augusta Raurica (Augst in the Haut-Rhin) and two minor roads going up towards Grandvillars and Boron. After having belonged to the duchy of Alémanie to VIIe century, Delle becomes ground mérovingienne with the duchy of Alsace. In 728 the duke of Alsace Eberhard makes gift with the Abbaye of Murbach of the villa of Delle and his church which preserved the remainders of Saint-Dizier. This donation is confirmed in 913 by the Germanie king, Conrad. At the beginning of XIIIe century, Delle, as an ecclesiastical field, is under the protection of Frederic II, count of Ferrette. Towards 1232 - 1235, Delle was the object of conflict between the counts de Ferrette and Montbeliard. It is probably at that time that the castle was built.

The commune of Delle amalgamated in 1972 with two common neighbors, Lebetain and Joncherey, but they have both taken again their independence, respectively in 1980 and 1983.
