Decumanus

A Decumanus is a East-West road axis in a Roman city or Gallo-Roman. Decumanus was one of the main axes in the middle of the economic life of the city.

With crossed Cardo and decumanus, one generally found the forum.

Examples

For Paris, although the layout is not very Net, the decumanus corresponded to current the Rue Soufflot.
For Poitiers, Grand' street follows the layout of the Gallo-Roman decumanus.
