Decoration of the Canadian forces

The Décoration of the Canadian Forces was instituted in 1949 and is decreed with the Officier S and the members of the row of the Canadian Forces in 12 years of service recognition. It is given without regard to the rank, but the member elects must have a good card of control.

This decoration is given to the members of the regular Forces and the reserve as to the Officier S of the Cadre of the Instructors of Juniors, to the Ranger S and the honorary holders of positions in the Canadian Armed forces. With its nomination, the General governor of Canada receives it automatically, in its capacity as Commander-in-chief of Canada.

This distinction replaces all the other distinctions of long service for the Militaire S which joined the Canadian Armed forces after September 1st 1939.

The medal carries the initial ones, the name and the rank of the member elect at the time of the reception of decoration. For each 10 years period additional of service with good behavior, a barette is given (as well as a rivet washer for the ribbon).

The member elects of the Decoration of the Canadian Forces can make follow their name of initial the " CD".
