Dave Cockrum
David Emmett Cockrum (November 12th 1943 — November 26th 2006) is author of Comic-book.
Biography
Dave Cockrum was born with Pendleton in the Oregon. His/her father was lieutenant-colonel of the Air Force, which caused many displacements for the family during several years.He discovers very early the comic-books, its preferred being Captain Marvel and Blackhawk. Its ambition is to become itself draftsman. It however joined Navy during six years before becoming inking assistant at Warren Publishing for Murphy Anderson. Anderson is then responsible for the inking of various titles like Superman or Superboy for cd. Comics, or The Legion off Super-Heroes .
When the place becomes vacant, Cockrum made its first weapons on this series during the Seventies, adapting the look of the characters, creating new costumes which will remain the same ones until the intervention of Keith Giffen in the Eighties. It leaves cd. following an argument concerning its work for Superboy #200.
At Marvel Comics, Cockrum and Len Wein (under the direction of Roy Thomas) create New the X-Men, giving birth to characters like Tornade, Diablo or Colossus. These characters make their appearance in the first number of Giant-Size X-Men during the summer 1975, then in Uncanny X-Men #94 (started again for the occasion). Wein leaves the ship after a number and half, replaced by Chris Claremont. Cockrum continues the series until in 1977 before being replaced by John Byrne. When in its Byrne turn leaves the series in 1981, Cockrum takes its place until in 1983.
Cockrum also drew and ink of many other titles of Marvel and cd.
In 1983, Cockrum produced The Futurians , initially like Graphic Novell ( Marvel Graphic Novell #9), then like series published by Lodestone. Even if it does not exceed the number #3, an edition collector is published later including/understanding number 4 and various no-claims bonus. The series will be published in France by Semic. At the time of its death, Cockrum had several projects of films and series. One does not know these projects yet how will evolve/move in the future.
In the last years of its life, Cockrum works less and less for the comics. In 2004, it falls ill following serious complications diabetics and pulmonary. Several of his/her collaborators led by Clifford Meth and Silver Bullet Comics organize a project to collect funds at the time of WizardWorld Chicago collecting nearly 25,000 $.
Cockrum was to carry out a history of 8 pages for Giant Size X-Men 3 (2005), but a relapse will prevent some.
Cockrum dies the morning of November 26th, 2006 following complications diabetics. Its death is announced by Clifford Meth on the Nightscrawlers forum.

In the novel drawn from the film X-Men 3, the final confrontation , the President of the United States of America is named David Cockrum.
