Biography

Daredevil is under its civil identity Matt Murdock, a lawyer respected and of happy appearance.

After death (supposed?) of his/her mother which has occurred whereas it was six years old, Matt was raised by his/her father. This one had promised with his dying wife to take care of their son. Being caught for a failure, it obliged Matt not to follow its example and pushed it to make studies to become lawyer or doctor. One day, Matt was victim of an accident while wanting to save an old man who was going to be crushed by a truck. In the accident, radioactive waste bombarded the boy who lost the sight, but developed his other directions with a superhuman level, and equipped it with a direction radar which replaces its sight. While involving himself, he became a true athlete. After the assassination of his father, it made the promise to put its physical qualities at the service of the good under the name of Daredevil, while defending justice as a lawyer. At the beginning, It had however evil to control its capacities and was then helped by Stick, a man who will also learn how with Elektra to fight. Later, the murderer of its father died of one heart attack following a continuation with Daredevil.

The best friend of Matt is Franklin Nelson (" Foggy"), a young lawyer with whom it created his cabinet: " Nelson & Murdock".

History

Daredevil was creates by Stan Lee and Bill Everett and was inspired by a data base éponyme created by Gift Rico and Jack Binder in 1940, where the hero, baptized Bart Hill, was not blind (but dumb, at least at the commencement of the series); for the anecdote, the review Daredevil comprised the adventures of Nightro, which, was blind for him, but its costume was almost the same one.

Bill Everett quickly left the title, replaced soon by Wally Wood, Bob Powell or John Romita. It is with Gene Colan that the band finds its true identity, between soap-opera (Matt Murdock invents a twin brother, Mike, to dissimulate its secret identity) and drama. Stan Lee pushes the aspect comedy, whereas Gene Colan develops realism. Gene Colan will remain long years, helped in particular of the scenario writer Gerry Conway. Will follow one another Steve Gerber, Jim Shooter, Roger Mc Kenzie (scenario) and Bob Brown, Carmine Infantino or Gene Colan (drawings).

In 1979, Frank Miller joined the scenario writer Roger McKenzie, then takes again only the reins of the series, to make a very dark and very psychological whodunnit of it. Frank Miller propels the old series B at the tops of the sales and Daredevil becomes a character worship then. The scenario writer re-uses Kingpin (Caïd), super-unpleasant appeared in the series Spider-Man, to make the sworn enemy of Daredevil of it. One owes him also the key " ninja" with the creation of the character of Stick and especially that of Elektra, first of the " bad girls" , at the same time amantes and enemy, which will mark out the life of Matt Murdock. Lastly, it breaks the smooth image of Daredevil by revealing its deep side neurotic (convinced of a setting in scene, it will go until unearthing the corpse of Elektra). Blow, the succession, ensured by the scenario writer Denny O' Neil, will be difficult, and Frank Miller will return, this time accompanied by the draftsman David Mazzucchelli, for the history " Born Again" , from now on legendary. Ann Nocenti and John Romita Jr will develop the Christian symbolic system, daN Chichester and Lee Weeks will direct the series towards more action…

Joe Quesada, coldly become responsible leading article of the collection Marvel Knights, will start again Daredevil, which he entrusts to the scenario writer Kevin Smith. Started again, the series is a great success with the beginning of the year 2000 with the team Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev, which undoubtedly leaves one of the best periods of the title. Brian Michael Bendis sticks more to Matt Murdock than with its alter-ego superman and the appearances of Daredevil in costume are done rarer. Since, the tandem made up of ED Brubaker and Michael Lark ensure the changing and again plunge the hero in one of the blackest periods of its existence.

Enemies of Daredevil

Caïd (Wilson Fisk) : The chief of the underworld New Yorkean, initially appeared in " Amazing Spider-Man" n°50. He became the principal enemy of head with horns thanks to Frank Miller. He kills all the people who gènent it. Frank Miller makes a powerful character of it, using much less its physique that in Spider-man. It behaves rather like the businessman amoral, who engages more or less gifted hired killers, most outstanding being " The tireur" and " Thyphoid Mary".

the Gunner/Bullseye (Benjamin Pointdexter) : A killer psychopathe who nourishes a morbid hatred towards Daredevil after this one saved it of an unquestionable death. It already killed the two most important women of its life, Elektra Natchios and Karen Page. First is ressuscitée and in spite of their old hatreds/loves, they are protected mutually. It had the column broken during a fall and one grafted bones of adamantium to him. It made also team with Deadpool, and was one of the main actors at the time of the research of the Disc of identity.

the Punisher (Frank Castle) : A dispenser of justice neurotic, finding peace only in the massacre of those which he considers guilty. Castle and Daredevil meet for the first time at the time of an investigation into a drug trafficking concerning the colleges and colleges. the Owl : Another chief of the underworld rival of New York. It is a cruel man, ready with very to eliminate its enemies, especially Caid .

the Matador One of the first enemies of Daredevil created by Wally Wood . Like the matadors in the bullfights, it makes use of its sword to fight Daredevil.

Typhoid Mary (Mary Walker) Former actress, it became Typhoid Mary the day or Matt will accidentally défenestra it by continuing the assassin of its father. It is a psychopathe armed with sabers, which has a side of its face painted in white and the other normal one. Suffering from schizophrenia, it can present two faces, that of tueuse or that of the actress. In the long series of numbers which see its appearance, its schizophrenia answers that resulting from the double identity of Daredevil. Mr. Hyde (Calvin Zabo) Like Dr. Jekyll, Dr. Zebo found a means of changing personality, but it cannot take again its original body any more. It became for always Mr. Hyde, brutish lout décérébrée giving its services to highest offerer.

Allies

Franklin (" Foggy") Nelson : This lawyer is a colleague and close friend of Matt; he is as one of the rare people namely as this last is Daredevil . He is ready with all to help it or comfort it.

Stick (deceased): To have lost the sight shortly after, Matt is contacted by a mysterious blind man, Stick. This one learns how to him to use its direction radar and teaches the ninjutsu to him. Ben Urich : journalist in Daily Bugle, controlled daily newspaper of an iron hand by Jonah Jameson and where Peter Parker as a photographer worked. Urich is one of the people to have discovered itself the true identities of Daredevil and of Spider-Man but convinced of the accuracy of the actions of the supermen, it had then decided of anything to reveal. With the passing of years, he became the confidant and the friend of Matt Murdock and played an important role while attacking Caïd by the means of his articles.

the Black Widow (Natacha Romanov) : Russian spy, it met one Daredevil day with which it fell in love, but their relation has tops and bottoms. Nevertheless when one or the other is in danger, they do not hesitate to help each other and even make team.

Karen Page (deceased) First secretary of the law firm " Nelson & Murdock" , Foggy and Matt fell in love with the young blonde. But she did not prefer any of both and fell under the charm from Daredevil, ignoramus who the blind lawyer is his god (Foggy did not know either at the time Matt was " head with cornes"). With the wire of time, Matt preferred to reveal its identity to him. It was upset and moved away from him for a career of actress who never took off really. Fallen in drug and the pornographic world, it revealed the secrecy of her friend for an amount but managed to be repurchased at Daredevil. She died little of time, assassinated afterwards by Bullseye , under the order of Mysterio, a known enemy of Spider-Man.

Milla Donovan : She met for the first Daredevil time when this one saved its life. She is a blind woman. Considering at the time the identity of Daredevil was known, it went to meet directly Matt Murdock at its office. Both had a relation and ended up marrying. On the other hand, a year later, Milla the marriage following revelations cancelled which this relation was based on a mental depression of Matt which had not succeeded in solving these psychological problems continuations with died of Karen Page.

Spider-Man : Peter Parker had several times need for his assistance, in particular against the Master of Horse-gear, a hypnotist. Daredevil and Spider-Man know since the business of the Redeemer the respective identity of each one. Daredevil recognizes as Peter Parker carefree Daredevil of the origins and tries to avoid the torments to him that itself knew: it thus retains Parker to beat with dead the Redeemer and moves away it from Wilson Fisk at the time of the war of the gangs opposing Caïd to his/her son, the Rose.

Elektra Natchios : Elektra is a character introduced by Frank Miller. The accidental death of his/her father, at the time of a taking of hostages makes rock Elektra in the evil. It becomes a pitiless mercenary ninja, formed by an organization ninja, the hand . The vestiges of its love for Matt Murdock will make waver its cruelty, then will lead it to fight Bullseyes , which will kill it. But it will ressuscitera and form in particular part of the SHIELD.
