Danas
Danas , in Serb Cyrillic Данас (" aujourd'hui"), is a Serb Quotidien published in Belgrade. It appeared for the first time the June 9th 1997.
History
As of its creation, Danas adopted a leading line very independent with respect to the mode of Slobodan Milošević. So it had to undergo the lightnings of the capacity in place. Danas was, with the Dnevni telegraf and Naša borba , prohibited by a governmental decree of the October 14th 1998. Prohibition was raised on October 20th, but it was replaced by a law on particularly restrictive information. So the newspaper was on several occasions condemned to pay a fine.
After the departure of Milošević, Danas was one of the rare Serb newspapers to resist the sensationnalism or chauvinism to increase its pulling. In fact, he saw his sales dropping regularly and the foreign investors were diverted of him.
Today, Danas is regarded as a journale left , in particular supporting the governmental organizations which work in favor of the Human rights. It is interested particularly in the problems involved in the ex- Yugoslavia, the Social-démocratie and the European Intégration.
