Damville

Damville is a common French, located in the department of the the Eure and the area High-Normandy.

Its inhabitants is called Damvillais.

Geography

History

Damville had its importance with its situation on the border Normande. It formed side of France, with Tillières-on-Avre and Breteuil, a line of fortresses which often stopped the enemy.

  • the Forteresse of Damville was built towards 1035. The castle burned by Henri II of England, in 1189, was rebuilt by Richard Lion-hearted.
