Damblain

Damblain is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.

Its inhabitants is called the Damblinois .

Geography

Damblain is located at the extreme-west of the department, bordering on the Haute-Marne. The highway A31 crosses the commune without offering local access. The exchanger of Robécourt is to 6 km in north.

History

The name of Damblain or Dambelain appears in the files as from the 13th century. Damblain was set up in county with prévôté by Stanislas, in favor of Antoine of the Servant boys of Riocourt, adviser of State and first president of the Room of Accounts of Lorraine.

In August 2002, a gathering evangelic of the travelling entertainers on old military base caused many reactions. Organized by Protestant association Life and Lumière, he saw converging some 40  000 Tzigane S from all Europe. The place had already been selected in 1994 and 1996.

With 16th and 17th century, ten engravers, ornementists, médailleurs:

. Pierre Woeiriot de Bouzey (1532-1599) celebrates engraver of prints and portraits, ornementist, and lord of the place.

. François Briot (1545-1616) the largest tin potter of all times, whose basin accompanying celebrates it its ewer are in permanent exposure to the museum of Louvres.

. Nicolas Briot (1579-1646), medaillor and mechanic and his brother Isaac Briot (1685-1770) his/her brother, medaillor and engraver of prints. Nicolas Briot was general engraver of the courses of the currencies of France then of England.

. François Guichard, medaillor, worked for the duke from Wurtemberg to Stuttgart

. Antoine Guenard (1726-1806), philosopher; it obtained the price of eloquence of the French Academy in (1755)

. Charles Renard (1847-1905), pioneer of the Ballooning. It makes a success of the first flight of an airship on August 20th, 1884 and the first European flight of a plane with engine in 1905.
