Dahmane Ben Achour (1912 - 1976) is a figurehead of the classical music Algérie.
From its true name Achour Abderrahmane , Dahmane Ben Achour was born the March 11th 1912 with Ouled Yaïch (Blida). He attends the Koranic school, having for Master his grandfather, then exerts the trade of hairdresser before launching out in the music, which is not long in absorbing all its activity. As of its young age, Abderrahmane settles with Algiers, street Zama, with his/her parents. His/her father was commercial, place of the Martyrs. Some time after, his/her father before asset a trade with Blida, it settles there in his turn, as hairdresser. It is in this hairdressing salon that it begins as a musician, playing initially of the Mandole, accompanied by one by his/her friends, Ali Mili resulting from the universities of the classic art. It is pointed out in 1931, by its beautiful voice within the company blidéenne of music El-Adabia, which Chérif Bencherchali chairs. As of 1946, it acquires within the orchestra directed by Mohamed Fakhardji a knowledge even more solid of the arabo-Andalusian Musique and very quickly, becomes a specialist in the Hadri (Hadhra) traditional. Dahmane Ben Achour played of all the instruments and controlled the styles Aroubi and Hawzi. Its orchestra was composed of Hadj Medjbeur to the violin, Benchoubane with the Mandole, Barabas with the flute, Challal and Baba-Ameur with the tambourine. This artist of talent, appreciated by the experts, gave his last spectacle in July 1976 to El-Achour (Algiers). He dies the September 15th 1976 with Blida of the irreversible after-effects of an surgical operation.
