DIN (Arab: دين) Arab word without equivalent in French although often translated by “religion”. This word indicates the nature of the Islam not like a Religion, but more like one system all at the same time political, religious, military, economic, social, legal, very as much as a lifestyle turned towards the tender of the individual to a divinity (Allah) and her Prophète or messenger (Mahomet).

DIN can indicate the final remuneration
- the day of the last judgment is called “day of the remuneration” (يَوْمالدين ''' AD-dīn ''') ( Coran (I; 4))
- DIN can indicate the religious practice and the religion in all its globality
- One of the slogans of the Algerian GIA is “Islam is at the same time religion and state” (Arab: لإسلامدينودولة ''' dīn ''' wa dawla)
- One finds in Coran the expression “ religion of God” to indicate Islam (Arab: دِينِاللّهِ allah) ( Coran (III; 83))
- On the other hand in Coran when Islam is called the “ religion of Abraham” (Arab: مِلَّةِإِبْرَاهِيمَ ibrāhīm), the word used is milla and not DIN ( Coran (II; 130) and seven other times).
