The D.C. current (which can be shortened by DC , the unsuitable term cd. , for Direct Current in English, being however often used), in opposition to the Alternative course, is a one-way Electric current: the current circulates continuously in the same direction, the displacement of the electron S is always done in the same direction.

These currents are produced by generators delivering of the also continuous tensions

Classification

The term of D.C. current recovers several directions:
  • constant Current : the current is completely constant in direction and intensity during time. The currents of this type are sometimes called current perfectly continuous.
  • D.C. current smoothed : it is current which approaches the constant current, but which preserves an undulation.
  • Running variable one-way : it is current which does not change a direction but whose tension and thus intensity vary during time.

Simple: Direct current
