A dæmon (to pronounce as the French word demon) is a creature of the trilogy In crossed worlds of Philip Pullman.

In this series, each person " possède" a dæmon, a being of animal form, which belongs to it. The dæmon would be thus to some extent the physical demonstration of the heart of human. Many characteristics of let us dæmons agree with certain concepts of psychology or other cultures.

  • Lyra Belacqua : Pantalaimon

    • Hermine : purity (symbol of the rebirth), the " form préférée" of Lyra.
    • Marten: grace and Empathie (Celtic Mythology). Final form.
  • Lord Asriel: Stelmaria

    • Leopard of snows: comprehension of the face hidden of an individual. (pagan myth). Final form.
  • Marisa Coulter: (name ever mentioned in the trilogy, but named Ozymandias in the radiophonic hour)

    • Monkey gilded (species not mentioned but it is certainly about a tamarin lion considering description which is made by it by the author): intelligence and trick, curiosity (Chinese Astrology). Final form.
  • Mary Malone : (name ever mentioned)

    • alpine Crave: The form which Lucifer took while entering to the Eden (lost paradise). Final form.
  • John Faa: (name ever mentioned)

    • Corbel (English Crow): the heart of the magic and connected to the spiritual world (alchemical symbol). Final form.
  • the Master of Jordan College: (name ever mentioned)

    • Corbel (English Raven): bird used by Ondine to collect the knowledge. Final form.
