Cytochrome C
Cytochrome C (heart of horse: BDP 1HRC) is small a Protéine Hème associated with the internal membrane of the Mitochondrie. It is a soluble protein, contrary to the others Cytochrome S and is an essential component of the respiratory Chaîne. It is a Ampholyte redox (it is able to undergo Oxydation and Réduction), and does not have a connection with the Oxygène. It transfers the electrons between the complex III and IV.
It can take an active share in the Apoptose: when the apoptotic way mitochondriale is activated, of the mégapores are created, which allow the passage of the cytochrome C in the Cytosol. It then starts a cascade of reactions which lead to the activation of Caspase S, proteins directly responsible for the phenomenon apoptotic, and with the creation of the Apoptosome.
The cytochrome C is a protein highly preserved through the spectrum of the species, found in the plants, the animals and of many unicellular organizations. This fact, compound with its small dimension (Molecular weight of approximately 12 kDalton S), makes it useful in the studies of the divergence in evolution.
