Cut Canada
After the series between the Soviet Union and the Canada in 1972 (Series of the century), there was a substantial increase in interest in a world championship of professional hockey. The Coupe Canada gathered the best teams of hockey in the world. The Canada Cut of 1976 was the first international tournament of hockey where professionals belonged to the national teams of the best countries of the world in the field of hockey.
It took place in 1976, 1981, 1984, 1987 and 1991, and presented a competition between the teams of Canada, the the United States, the Finland, the Sweden, the Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union. Except for the year 1981, Canada gained all the tournaments. The edition 1987 is regarded as most spectacular in the history of hockey
- the World cup of hockey replaces the Canada Cut since 1996.
