The Curule chair ( sella curulis ) is a symbol of the capacity in ancient Rome. It was the chair on which could sit down the Roman magistrates and promagistrats having the Imperium what includes the Consul S, the dictators, the main of cavalry, Préteur S, curule municipal officials.

The flamine of Jupiter ( flamen dialis ) had also right to be held to with it.

If Jules César were authorized to sit down on a made curule gold chair, it was traditionally made of Ivoire; with the feet curve forming X broad without file and balustrade. The chair could be folded, and transported.

According to Tite Live, the chair of curule came from Étrurie.
