Crystalline family
The crystalline family indicates a whole of crystal lattices characterized by same properties of Symétrie; it is frequently used for the classification of the crystals.
Families of the networks with 2 and 3 dimensions
The two-dimensional networks are divided into four crystalline families:
- monoclinical ( m );
- orthorhombic ( O );
- tétragonale or quadratic ( T ) ;
- hexagonal ( H ).
The three-dimensional networks include/understand two additional crystalline families, in addition to the four preceding ones:
- triclinic or anorthic ( has );
- cubic ( C ).
