Crystal
See also: Crystal (homonymy)
A crystal is a polyhedric solid , more or less shining, with regular and periodic structure, formed of an ordered stacking of a great number of Atome S, Molécule S or Ion S.
“ Ordonné ” means that the same reason is repeated with identical according to a regular network. More the small portion of the network allowing to recompose stacking is called a mesh.
“ Grand number” results from great dimensions of the crystal (some micrometers with several millimetres) in comparison with the size from a mesh: typically some tenth of nanometers.
The most common crystals are the salt S, the Sucre, the Silicate S, the Oxyde S, the Sulfure S, the metals, the invaluable stones (gemmeous), the Neige. Certain objects are composed of only one crystal (for example invaluable stones), one speaks then about “monocrystal”. But the majority of the objects are composed of several crystals coupled (or Cristallite S), one speaks about “polycrystals”.
The solids characterized by the irregularity of the arrangement of their atoms are described as Amorphe S.
Crystallization
See also: Crystallization
A Cristal is born, if the temperature of a casting goes down rather slowly under the Point melting and that the thermal movement of different the Atome S reaches a value so low that reciprocal connections cannot be fractured by oscillations any more - one comes in formation from a uniform lattice which is marked by a remote order. This uniform lattice has weaker free Enthalpie than glass Amorphe, which lays out only one remote order. One qualifies this process of crystallization.
Crystalline structure

Each crystal is characterized by a particular fitting of the atoms the component. One can thus classify the crystals (and minerals that they constitute by regrouping) according to their crystalline structure.
