History
The origin of its name comes from the Latin word (horns: enclosure), remains named CURTIUS, Gallo-Roman time about the year 3-400.
The known history of Coursac starts with the visit of Monseigneur Frotaire de Gourdon, Evêque of Périgueux, with his provost at the Village of Mourcin.
This one assassinates it on December 8th, 991 without we knowing the reasons of their disagreement, the money while being certainly the mobile.
This event violate was the beginning of a known relation of dependence of Coursac in Périgueux, it will continue to the French revolution, the Bishop of Périgueux being the Lord of Coursac.
It is in XIIème century that the church of Coursac was built definitively making the central point of the Borough and the Commune. Two castles always exist on our territory:
The castle of Jarthe built in XIIIème, perhaps by Templiers. It will be used as residence with the Dupuy family of Jarthe. This family will give some thirty consuls and twenty mayors to the Town of Périgueux.
The castle of Manou is much more recent: it was built in XVIème century with three kilometers of the Borough towards north.
Many constructions of character were built during the centuries, and to quote some that some we will retain Feuillade, burned during the war of 39-45 by German, rebuilt since, Maraval, Embois and also the building where the Library is installed.
Coursac has a common long story with the agglomeration of Périgueux, more than thousand years testify some. it was natural that we integrated this territory again.
Room of the Old Lime
Why the room of the Old Lime? Not such a long time ago, the village hall of the borough was the Presbytery. And then one day, Mister the Priest left food in Razac and the Presbytery, property of the Commune, became a village hall then.
But in the garden of the Presbytery trônait a splendid lime, undoubtedly planted by a priest in love with nature and birds. During its long life, he knew the calm one of a garden of priest, then the conversations of the villagers, the sets of young imps, the confidences of in love, the employers' festival also, of which he was the " center". Which pleasure of taking part in the meals embaumés by the envoûtant perfume of its flowers and calm our old ones seeking the expenses at the time of the heats evenings of summer.
The population increasing, the old Presbytery became too small to accommodate all those which wished to take part in the activities: workshop theater or lotto of the schools.
The municipality considered its enlarging. But, there was the old lime, always proud.
The architects tried to find the solution which would make it possible to keep our tree, but anything to make. We had even thought of building around, but no solution was satisfactory and it was necessary to be solved to cut down it.
The only thing which comforted me, it is that although it has still proud pace outside, time had used the interior of its trunk and its days were counted.
With its place, there is now a room, certainly very pleasant, but that the adults, who must have lost the direction of the beauty of the words, called " polyvalente" in administrative language.
Also, when several natives of the village proposed to call the old Presbytery, the room of the " Tilleul" old man; , I had the impression that our tree bruissait of pleasure and which the couples of old which were accustomed to sitting down under its branches, the evening after supper, would return and we would smile again.
The Blazon
In 1990, the municipal council, on the initiative of his mayor Mr Bernard Peyrouny and Mr Lucien Sebestyen city council man, decides to equip the commune of a blazon. The Bishop Frotaire de Gourdon having had misfortune to be made assassinate in Coursac, at the village of Mourcin on December 8th of year 991 by his provost, the idea was to take as a starting point his armorial bearings. This assassination is the object of the first writing known on our commune.
The Historical and Heraldic Council of France delivered and sealed the Patent constituting the Payment of Armorial bearings of the commune of Coursac on April 4th, 1990 Its description in heraldic terms is the following one:

Symbolic system: The stars, (blazon origin 2 and 1 reversed) represent the Thought, Rise, Spirituality, the Infinite one and the Power of the Creator; The corn Ears symbolize the Earth, Prosperity, the work of the Men, their Sorrows and their Joies"
