Courquetaine is a common French, located in the department of Seine-et-Marne and the area Île-de-France.

Its inhabitants is called the Courquetainois .

Geography

To 50 km in the South East of PARIS, 20 km in the Western South of the park of DISNEYLAND (sector 4 of the Marne the Valley), COURQUETAINE, D a surface of 782 hectares, located the Brie Frenchwoman enter N.4 and D.319 to the Seine and Marne, fact part of the Canton of TOURNAN in BRIE.

History

Mentioned with 12th, " Qurquetaine". After having amalgamated with Ozouer-le-Voulgis under the name of Ozouer-Courquetaine, the common one took again its autonomy on January 1st, 1982. The first traces of COURQUETAINE date from year 52 before J.C., time to which the soldiers of JULES CESAR seized Melun.

The village undergoes " incursions of the francs and the barbarians, then the plundering of Norman, under the successors of CHARLEMAGNE and after CLOVIS when they besieged PARIS" bring back Mr. BESOUL in his opuscule on COURQUETAINE in 1893.

During the revolution part of the castle was burned and partially rebuilt in 1844.

The church, bénite in 1675, which we see today built on a new site date completion of the 17th century. It replaces the old one, destroyed, which was of Romance style. The table which decorates the Master furnace bridge represents the owner of the church (St LEU, bishop of SENS), it is of the Christmas painter, it is a gift made in 1747 by the priest of this time.

The population, in 1709 counted 45 fires, in 1745 it remained only 27 about it, today the village is made of 79 houses.

In 1726 one counts 109 inhabitants; in 1840 - 171 inhabitants; in 1855 - 192 inhabitants; in 1877 - 208 inhabitants; in 1891 - 201 inhabitants; Nowadays COURQUETAINE counts approximately 180 inhabitants. Among the inhabitants, the " family; DE VIGNY" whose goes down the Alfred poet FROM VIGNY was owner of most of the grounds of COURQUETAINE since 1688 until 1791, date on which the goods were sold nationally following their emigration during the revolution.

Mr Louis Firmin INN was Maire of the commune of 1818 to 1848, member of the National Assembly, Constituante and Legislative.

Nearer to us Mr HARDON, owner of the castle of COURQUETAINE, Mayor of the commune during 18 years since 1892, general adviser of the canton of TOURNAN in BRIE during 8 years whose girl married MARSHAL PETAIN in 1920.

Village with agricultural vocation, COURQUETAINE, without trade nor industry, integrated in intercommunity associations, with the characteristic to be remained a community with human size, to have controlled the land use thus preserving a certain rurality in an perish-urban environment.
