In Biology, the cortex (Latin word meaning bark ) indicates the surface or peripheral layer of a organic fabric.
By Métonymie, the term is often used to indicate the cerebral Cortex, thus one will speak about the parietal Cortex to indicate the layer of neuron of the Cerveau forming the cortex of the parietal Lobe.
