Cool Biz

Cool Biz ( kurubizu in Japanese) is a measure adopted by the government of Japanese the Prime Minister Koizumi via its ministry for the Environnement, in order to fight the Climate warming by promoting the abstract manner to dress itself (without jacket nor tie) during the summer 2005.

Concretely, it is a question of reducing the use of the Air conditioning in the offices (or private houses): if the apparatuses of air conditioning function less, they contribute less to energy consumption, therefore with the Greenhouse effect.

In the offices a difference from 26,2 to 28 °C for the temperature of maintenance, would involve a reduction of consumption of CO2 equivalent from 160 to 2,900,000 tons, which gives a substantial effect of reduction of Gaz to greenhouse effect. In October 2005, the minister estimated that one obtained a reduction of 460.000 tonnes-CO2, the equivalent of CO2 emitted by a million hearths during one month. In 2006 the result was much better as the minister estimated to have obtained a reduction of 1.140.000 tonnes-CO2, the equivalent of CO2 emitted by 2,5 million hearths during one month.

In the houses of private individuals, one reminds the households that simply to gain a degree on their air-conditioning involves already an effect on the gas rejection with greenhouse effect.
