Control of the cinema

The governed cinema is an organization of the Gouvernement of Quebec the purpose of which is to exert a control on the film production in the Province of Quebec. Created in 1983, it replaces the office of the monitoring of the cinema and it of the censure, whose history was strongly related to the history of [[censures] in Quebec.

The control exerts its mission under the terms of the law on the cinéma

It classifies films, controls the rights of distibution, grants the licenses to the establishments and carries out the inspections necessary in the buildings.

In 2006, its president is Jean Lebel. One of its predecessors was Claude Benjamin, in functions during ten years. The control of the cinema is famous to be progressist as regards classification, diffusing with a general public what the restricted North America with a group of more mature age.
