Continental currencies
The Continental was the name of the Monnaie paper creates to support the fight against the England at the time of the Guerre of independence of the United States.
The revolted colonies are transfered in the obligation to emit paper money; this creation had the fate of all papers of State emitted in too great number, these assignats were not long in being discredited.
It was in 1775 that the confederated colonies made their first emission, that they were to guarantee because of their importance and their population. Five million dollars was launched this same year. In order to ensure the regularity of these emissions, twenty-eight citizens, including Benjamin Franklin, the tickets signed; in spite of that, a certain hesitation appearing, the Congress pressed the various States to take the necessary measures for their circulation and engaged them with the need to issue the forced course.
The Latin language was employed for these currencies.
Emitted either like national tickets, or like tickets of the particular States, each one of these values, whose importance varied from a third of dollar with 80 dollars, carried a stamp and a currency.
