Staffa is an island of the Hébrides interior in Scotland which is located in the Mer of Hébrides and belonged to the Council area of Argyll and Bute.
History
The island is conquered by the Roman Empire in 83.It is then subjected to the raids Viking S and the various migratory waves of the Moyen-âge which reach successively Écosse : Scots, Angles, Saxon, Viking S,…
In 1707, the island becomes British with the signature of the Acte of Union which binds the Royaume of Scotland to that of the the United Kingdom.
A legend tells that the Swiss village of Stäfa was named thus by a monk of the island of Iona.
Today, the island is uninhabited but attracts many tourists who come to admire the landscapes, the caves and the Macareux.
In 2005, the island was indicated like the 8th natural wonder of the United Kingdom by the listeners of Radio Times .

Geography
Constructed in staff is a Scottish island which is in the Atlantic Ocean, with ten kilometers of the island of Mull and with nine kilometers of the island of Iona.It is approximately a kilometer long on 500 meters broad for a circumference of almost three kilometers.
The island, broadside of many cliffs, consists of a grassy rock plate.

Geology
Is a volcanic island of origin constructed in staff formed starting from eruptions which have occurred million years ago. Constructed in staff means “island of the pillars” or “mélodieuse cave” as a Scot in reference to many cliffs made up of basaltic Orgues throwing himself in the sea and formant at certain places of the underwater caves.The ground of the island is made of a layer of basalt which rests on the basaltic organ, being pressed themselves on a layer of Tuf.
Since million years, the island is eroded by the rain and the waves which released from many splits and underwater caves like the Grotte of Fingal.
Ecology
The island, just like the other Scottish islands, is an important migratory halt for the puffins between September and May.
