The consequences of the Katrina hurricane on La Nouvelle-Orléans were disastrous.
The August 29th 2005, the Ouragan Katrina, predicted and followed by the services of weather falls down on the coasts of Louisiana to the the United States.
The August 30th 2005, one day after the passage of the Hurricane Katrina, 80% of the town of La Nouvelle-Orléans is flooded. End January 2006, according to the Louisiana Weekly , the center of the city counted 144.000 inhabitants. This figure is to be compared with the almost 500.000 recorded before the hurricane. It should reach the 181.000 in September 2006 and the 247.000 two years later. The fact that the population of the city was evacuated changed the ethnic composition of the city, New-Orleans which was a city with black majority became a white city.
