Congis-on-Thérouanne

Congis-on-Thérouanne is a common French, located in the department of Seine-et-Marne and the area Île-de-France.

Its inhabitants is called Congissois. They, at one time, were affectionately called the “guernouilleux ones”.

Geography

The commune is on the course of the Thérouanne.

It is served by a Gare ('' Isles - Armentières - Congis '') of the line Paris - Castle-Thierry ().

History

The old commune of Villiers-les-Rigault was amalgamated with Congis-on-Thérouanne in 1807.

  • Several buildings are classified historic buildings:
    • the castle of the Ford with Tresmes, and its park;
    • the elevatory factory of water of Isles-les-Meldeuses;
    • the Saint-Remi church, whose certain elements go back to the 13th century, and several movable elements of which a table representing the Fuite in Egypt.
  • the intersection of the 49e parallel northern and the 3rd Méridien in the east of Greenwich is on the territory of the commune (see also the Degree Junction Project ).
