Concino Concini

Concino Concini , marshal of Anchor, born with Florence towards 1575, died in Paris the April 24th 1617. Favorite of the regent Marie de Médicis, it neglected to cultivate the friendship of the crown prince Louis and succumbed to the jealousy of the other courtiers, in particular the duke of Luynes.

Biography

Adventurer carrying the title of count della Penna and resulting from the Italian minor nobility, Concino Concini studied with the Université of Pisa before belonging to the continuation of Marie de Médicis. He met Léonora Dori there known as Galigaï , foster sister of the queen, whom he married the June 12th 1601.

Concini is known to be a pretentious and arrogant man. Its presence at the side of the queen did not satisfy Henri IV her husband who would have liked to see to move away this ambitious individual from his entourage. The character of Concini conferred a deep antipathy to him among the noble ones and the people. May 4th 1610, ten days before the death of the king, Concini had failed well to be made kill whereas it had been allowed to enter the Parlement the hat on the head in all impunity. The clerks of the Palate had thrown themselves on him and had bastonné it, him and the pages of the queen which had come to its rescue. As Concini complained some with the king, the Parliament appointed towards him advisers to point out the immunity of their residence to him.

Become regent, Marie de Médicis made her favorite of it. Concini bought the marquisat of Anchor and was made name first gentleman of the room, superintendent of the house of the queen, governor of Péronne, Roye and of Montdidier before being finally high with the dignity of Marshal of France in 1613. Hated by the nobility and the people, he saw nevertheless growing his political influence. Thus, in 1616, it obtained the disgrace of the chancellor and Minister of Justice, Nicolas Brûlart de Sillery. It made name minister Richelieu, Claude Mangot and Barbin.

In order to reach the capacity held until there by his/her mother, Louis XIII opera a takeover by force: not being able to stop Concini which had a personal army of more than 7000 soldiers (without counting its partisans), helped of his Master of fauconnery, the duke of Luynes and some faithful, the king made assassinate the marshal of Anchor with blows of gun by the baron de Vitry, captain of the bodyguards, the April 24th 1617 in the court of the Louvre.

The woman of Concini, Léonora Dori, was judged for Sorcellerie ( " Juiverie " ) and carried out in place of Strike to Paris the July 8th 1617. Their goods, in particular the castle of Lésigny and the Parisian hotel of the street of Tournon, were confiscated and given to the duke of Luynes.
