Company of the North-West
The Compagnie of the North-West is a founded business enterprise with Montreal in 1782 for the Traite furs, by Benjamin Frobisher, his Joseph brother, and Simon McTavish.
The company enters in direct competition with the Compagnie of Hudson Bay which has operated already for a century. This competition degenerates into armed confrontations, as the Bataille of the seven oaks. These battailles continues until in 1821. The new company based with Montreal is then amalgamated with that of Hudson Bay. The important trade of England with the west of the country, furs and local provisioning can then take the shorter road of Hudson Bay.
