Collar of Vanoise

The Col of Vanoise is a alpine collar (2 517 meters) of the National park of Vanoise giving access between the localities of Pralognan-la-Vanoise and Termignon, belonging respectively to the valleys of the Tarentaise and the Maurienne.

De Pralognan, it is accessible by the valley from the Glière and its affluent passing to the south of the Aiguille of Vanoise. De Termignon, it is accessible by the valley from the Doron de Termignon (Bellecombe) then that of the Leisse.

The plate accommodating the collar, located between the Great Breakage (in north) and the Glaciers of Vanoise (in the south) shelters several lake, of which the Long Lake, the Round Lake, the Lake of the Plates and the Lac of the Cows.

The refuge

Built in 1902 with a few meters of the collar itself, it is oldest refuge Massif of Vanoise. He is also attended the most. A second building was added in the Années 1970, to answer the increasing frequentation of the field. It is currently managed by the alpine Club French.

The refuge was first of all called " Refuge Felix Faure " , in the honor of old the President of the French Republic which crosses the collar in 1897 at the time of military operations.
