Collar of Iseran

The collar of Iseran , indicated by the roadway system to 2.770 Meter S of Altitude (but indicated, according to the charts, to 2762 or 2764 m), is most road Col of mountain of the the Alps and of France. It is located in Savoy in the National park of Vanoise, between the Massif of Vanoise and the the Alps Grées. It connects the valleys of the Arc (Maurienne) and of the Isere (Tarentaise, for the upstream part). It is not the highest road of the Alps because that of the Cime of the Cap reaches the 2.802 meters of altitude, but it is not however about a road of coll.

The road of the collar was open between 1931 and 1937. Since, it became a high place of the Tour de France cyclist.

The access road is closed during the season Hiver nale.
