Collaert Jacob

Jacob Collaart or Collaert (Floruit circa 1625 - 1635) was a Flemish admiral with the service of the Spain and one of more famous Dunkirk corsairs during the Guerre Eighty Year old.

It is responsible for the capture and the destruction of at least 150 fishing vessels and brought back to Dunkirk 945 prisoners to exchange them against ransom. During the following decade, he was admiral admiral on behalf of Spain.

February 29th, 1636, while sailing with two other corsairs, Collaart and Mathieu Romboutsen are captured close to Dieppe after a five hours battle against the captain Johan Evertsen.

His/her son, Jacques Collaert, corsair like, was not less famous to him.
