The cognitive word is a qualifying adjective what is relative:

One thus speaks about the higher cognitive functions to indicate faculties than one finds at the man but not in the animal like the Raisonnement Logique, the moral Jugement or Esthétique… (see ethology)

with the cognitive Sciences or which adopts of it principal the Paradigme S. One thus speaks about cognitive Psychologie or of cognitivo-behavioral Thérapie.
