Club of the compass
The Club of the compass was created in October 2002 by the deputy UMP of Oise Eric Woerth. It gathers 41 deputies who assert themselves faithful to the Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin (then Dominique de Villepin) and with Jacques Chirac.
The Club carried out several To that the S, like that of the Ministers for the Gouvernement in 2003, the realization of the promises of Campagne of Jacques Chirac in 2005 or contradictions between the positions of the elephants of the PS and the motion voted with the Congrès of Mans in 2005. Eights of its members were named in the third government of Jean-Pierre Raffarin of which Marie-Anne Montchamp, Xavier Bertrand, Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, Marc-Philippe Daubresse, Laurent Hénart or Catherine Vautrin.
Since spring 2004, François Cornut-Gentille, appointed Haute-Marne, takes the presidency of it.
