Cloning (data-processing)
In data processing and more particularly in the directed computer programming languages objects the cloning is the operation of copy of an authority of object in order to create a new authority which contains same information.
The operation can seem simple, but if the authority of object to be copied contains one (several) references towards other objects, the decision must be taken entre :
- to copy the reference of the object pointed (but that can modify even to deteriorate the structure of the graph to which belongs the clone object) ;
- cloner also the referred object (but if the graph to which belongs the clone object contains cycles, the operation could never not succeed).
