Clamping plate
The word clamping plate is a familiar term which is given to various animal species of the family of the tailless Amphibians - animal said to cold blood (Poïkilotherme S) - in particular with the kind Bufo. The female is called crapaude, word forged by Voltaire and the youthful ones are tadpole then crapelet. The clamping plates coassent, whistle or flûtent.
One often distinguishes the clamping plates from the frogs (name given to other species of Anoure S) to the fact that the clamping plates have a rougher skin in general, does not jump as well and spends less time in the aquatic environment than frogs, but especially with their aspect considered pushing back, their not very mélodieux cries with the human ears, etc… The batrachians indicated by this term were formerly associated with sorcery. This term always has a pejorative direction and the word can be used like an insult
