The Citroen Type has Torpedo is the first model of car designed by André Citroen and marketed by Citroen between May 1919 and July 1921.
History
In 1913, 35 years old, André Citroen founds the “Société of the gears Citroen” to exploit a Brevet production of Engrenage S with “double rafters” with lower costs which it bought at the time of a voyage in Poland.See also: Andre Citroen
After having exploited its patent and having manufactured Ammunition S during the First World War, it conceives and markets in 1919 the first model of car of the mark: the “type has”.
It is equipped with an engine of 4 cylinders of 1,3 liter and 1327 cm ³, 18 ch for 65 km/h and of a box 3 speeds.
The Type has is manufactured in the historical factory Citroen of the Quai of Javel in the 15th district of Paris (famous since Quai Andre Citroen) at a rate of 100 models per days on the model of the manufacture of the Ford T of which it is to go to study the manufacturing process to the chain (Taylorisme) during a voyage to Ford during the war with Détroits with the the United States.
The Type has is followed by the Citroen B2 in 1921, then the Citroen B12 in 1925.
The historical factory became since the Parc Andre Citroen.
