Citroen C1
The Citroen C1 is an urban car for 4 people with 3 and 5 doors marketed by the French manufacturer Citroen in Europe.
History
C1 is built in the factory of TPCA, company common between PSA and of Toyota to Kolín in Tchéquie. It uses the same platform and division of very many common parts with the Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo. These three vehicles were presented in first world to the Salon of Geneva and were launched in series the February 28th 2005. C1 is available since June 2005.
The decision to produce these cars of line entry was made the July 12th 2001, when the presidents of Toyota and on PSA Peugeot Citroen, Fujio Cho and Jean-Martin Folz, decided to produce a joint small car to share the development costs and to guarantee tariffs starting from 8.500 euros of them to him.
The competitors are the Renault Twingo, Smart Fortwo, FIAT Seicento, Daihatsu Cuore, Chevrolet Matiz, FIAT Panda and Volkswagen Fox.
C1 weighs 150 kg more than the Citroen AX is + 23% in order to ensure an increased safety.
Specificities
Compared to the Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo, the Citroen is dissociated by its fires above all in roundnesses (in the shape of water drop) and its large ventilation grill located under the grill. The rear lights also have specificity, compared to the 107, to be black with transparent bulbs (and not completely red). Inside, only the wheel differs.It is available in two completions, bases and Pack , with a manual, or semi-automatic transmission robotized in option on the engine gasoline only.
The front head-rest are integrated, the rear windows are with compass on the model five doors, and fixed on the three doors.
The forage ladder is a simple pane, tinted in black in its low part (in order to visually support the C1 logo and the rafters, as well as the essuie ice).
Engine
2 motorizations are proposed: block 1 liter gasoline of Toyota origin and diesel 1,4 liter diesel HDi, equipped with the most recent technologies.The gasoline benefits from the expertise of Toyota, is provided with variable a VVT-i system of chock of the distribution, managed uninterrupted by data processing (according to acceleration, of the load, etc…). The engine has only three cylinders.
The diesel of weak cubic capacity (1,4 L) and with its technology makes it possible to approach the clean vehicle, with a standardized consumption IT of 4,1 liters to the hundred kilometers in mixed course (3,6 liters with the hundred kilometers in extra-urban course). The engine has four cylinders.
The two versions (gasoline and Diesel) reject, according to the EC, 109 grams of CO2 per kilometer, value among lowest of the market equivalent to the hybrid family car Toyota Prius.
Safety and habitability
Four people can take seat there comfortably, and it is equipped in series for Western Europe with a ABS, of two inflatable cushions frontal and of a control system of stability in curve CSC says (but which is not ESP proposed in option). C1 also obtained 4 stars with the crash landing-tests Euro NCAP for the adults (3 for the children), with a total score of 26 points out of 37, and it obtains 2 stars for the protection of the pedestrians.
