Citroen AX
The Citroen AX is a model of town Automobile , conceived by the manufacturer French Citroen. Light and Aerodynamic (Cx of 0,31), it was conceived with an aim of being economic, and inexpensive with the production and maintenance. It was produced by Citroen of 1986 to 1999. It was also produced in Malaysia of 1996 to 2000 and was sold under the name of Proton Tiara .
Birth of the AX
Citroen AX is presented to the Salon Paris of 1986. It is presented in the form of a successor of three models: small LNA, growing old the Visa and mythical the 2cv (“two horses”). The AX is well accepted by the public: compared to the LNA and the Visa, the AX represents a progress little disputed on the other hand with respect to the followers of the 2cv it is a little more complicated. In Germany the AX is a mitigated success due to the fact that it is then available only in version Three doors whereas the 2cv proposes 4 of them and for less low price 20%. In 1988 the version 5 doors of the AX arrives and rings the knell of the 2cv, already condemned by the standards anti pollution and its low resistance to the Crash test. Finally, in July 1990, production of the 2cv cease in Portugal with the factory of Mangualde thus leaving the place to the AX.

Cockpit
The interior of the Habitacle is redrawn in July 1991.The AX, in particular in phase 1, was rather stripped and thus light (the version 10th of 1986 posts a weight of 680 kg with vacuum). The adjustments available for the wheel and the seats are very limited. On the other hand, it is about one of the only cars comprising of the carry-bottles in the front doors.
There existed all the same a version Luxe of the AX phase 2: the AX Exclusive. It was a AX profiting from many equipment (Climatisation, interior Cuir, braking ABS, etc). The engine was that of the AX WP or 4x4 (1.4 L, 75 CH) with a look of AX GTI but of the trains rolling in 3 holes, any external sign, nor no inscription dissociates it, only the interior leather betrays the very top-of-the-range completion of this AX which remains rare and with dimensions on the second-hand market.
The AX sport of a cubic capacity of 1294 Cm ³ and its 2 Carburateur S capricious twin spool develops a power of 95 ch DIN thanks to the Danielson preparer. For a featherweight of 715 kg. It left in 2 versions phase 1 (5000 specimens only), then phase 2 as from 1987. The principal modifications of the latter are the modification of the instrument panel with large a Compte-tours, new external decoration (aileron, stickers, new colors), news rim S of 14 inches. The AX Sport was the nightmare of the mechanics for the adjustments of Carburateur S and was not adapted to a town use but to the hill climbs.
The AX WP, which will represent the sporting model of the mark, is more general-purpose and develops a power of 85 ch DIN then 75 ch in phase 2 on a basis 1,4 L.
The GTI, as for it, has of the ABS in option and exemplary equipment of completion of the range! It develops 100 ch DIN, then 95 ch in version catalyzed (as from 1992) on the basis of one 1.360 cm ³, the same one as her cousin the Peugeot 106 xsi.
